Nacho Bimby Movie Review: KONG Skull Island

Starring: Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Toby Kebbel, and John C. Reilly

Directed by: Jordan Vogt-Roberts

FUN! In one word, KONG: SKULL ISLAND is a fun movie where you don't have to think of the story. A movie wherein you just have to sit back and enjoy the ride while munching on nachos.

It has a simple and easy to understand story. Set in the seventies, certain scientists from the MONARCH organization want to go visit this new island that suddenly appeared in the South Pacific on a satellite feed. The scientists seek approval from the US Senate to go an expedition on that new island and do some experiments. They then ask soldiers who just finished serving during the Vietnam War to accompany them to this so-called mysterious island. The scientists and soldiers drop bombs to check on the terrain and that's when it gets crazy. Little did the soldiers know that the scientists from MONARCH are aware of some things hidden from man living on Skull Island.

"You don't bomb one's backyard unless you're picking a fight!"

"King Kong" as we all know him isn't the bad guy in this movie. (He's referred to as Kong in the movie by the way) He's just the "King" of Skull Island who protects the people and animals living there from the deadly "Skullcrawlers". So it's a monster vs. monsters movie with some people along the way to witness it.

Kong really is the heart of the film. This particular version is the biggest in terms of size. The monster action scenes are a load of fun and that really is the main reason you have to see it. Sadly, the human characters in the story don't have much development despite having a number of stars in the cast.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND is now showing in cinemas with Nacho Bimby! Catch it in Greenhills Dolby Atmos Theater, SM The Block, Eastwood Mall, Venice Grand Canal, and Robinsons Magnolia.
